She went above and beyond to make sure our dog felt comfortable and cared for, and sent us loads of updates so we knew how he was getting on at her house too. She was flexible to work with us to make sure timings worked and it was a pleasure to have her as a part of our special day looking after our fur baby. She is so friendly and polite and looks after your dog as if they’re one of her own. “After being let down by our local dog boarders here in Devon, we were in a quandary. We had a close family wedding in Folkestone to attend and 2 young dachshund pups. A family friend suggested that Julia may be able to help us. Well, I can’t praise her highly enough. Our girls had never been left anywhere before so we were understandably anxious, we immediately had our worries erased with the warmest of welcomes, the girls obviously felt at ease and loved the company of Margeaux, Missy and Odie, we had no worries about leaving them. Julia sent us frequent updates and videos which kept our minds at ease. We are in the difficult process of trying to find a replacement border here in Devon, the trouble being that Julia and Jess have set the bar really high! We do now have the advantage of knowing that when we are travelling south, our girls will have as great a break as us!

“Home From Home were recommended to us by our wedding venue when we needed a weekend boarding service for our pug Beau for our wedding. Having only ever left him with family we were a little nervous in handing over our fur baby to someone new, however from the minute we met Julia and Jess we knew we couldn’t be leaving Beau in safer hands. They treated him like one of their own from day one and he settled right away making friends with the other doggies and jumping straight into laps for kisses on both our meet and greet sessions prior to the wedding. We had 10 months between our initial enquiry and our wedding day and Julia kept in touch continually, keeping us updated with any news and info we needed.
We dropped Beau off the afternoon before our wedding for a two night stay and it was a struggle getting him to acknowledge we were leaving as he’d completely made himself at home straight away! Within half an hour of leaving him Julia had already sent her first pupdate which she continued to do throughout the whole weekend and even though all our nerves in leaving him had long been allayed, we really did appreciate being kept up to date on how he was doing, especially with a lovely message on our wedding morning.
Not only did we use Home From Home’s boarding service, but we also took advantage of the wedding package and had Beau chaperoned to our wedding for some photos. Again Julia & Jess went over and above, cleaning the van especially and adding a ribbon and flowers to match our colour scheme. Julia was waiting with Beau as soon as we walked back down the aisle as Mr & Mrs and we were so happy to see them both with Beau looking extra dapper in his suit.
Beau had the best weekend, and even ran upstairs to hide when it was time to go home which says it all really doesn’t it.
We honestly can’t recommend Julia & Jess highly enough and have said if we ever need boarding again, we’d happily take the 2hr round trip knowing he is in the best hands rather than find someone local to us. Thank you again for taking care of our fur baby and being the loveliest people ever!”

“4 months ago, we made the decision that our 3 month old puppy would need to stay with someone on the night of our wedding, at which point he would be almost 7 months old. This was the most daunting decision for us and not something we took lightly. Our wedding venue recommended Julia and Jess and we took a trip down to meet them. From the moment we stepped in the door of their beautiful home, all three of us (my now husband, our puppy and I) were completely at ease. They are the most lovely, professional and caring family you could ever wish to leave your beloved pet with. I knew way before the wedding that Julia and Jess would look after Teddy as if he were there own and that’s just what they did. Minerva is very shy and nervous around new people and places and Julia has gone above and beyond to make her feel happy and relaxed when at daycare. Minerva started off quite tentative but now its full blown excitement to get to daycare, her whole body wags and she can’t wait to get in. She is spoilt rotten and I think she is quite disappointed to come back home and leave her new friends at daycare.
